Applications for the 2017 Willamette Angels Conference Open January 11

Upcoming Willamette Angels Conference follows record-breaking 2016 event

Eugene, Oregon – The Willamette Angels Conference (WAC), being held May 11th in Corvallis, Oregon, opens company applications January 11th for the 2017 conference. 2016 was a record breaking year for the WAC, outperforming in every category with the most event attendee’s, company applicants, investors, and investment total.

In 2016 the Willamette Angels invested $1.2 million in startup businesses; $300,000 to conference co-winner Code3Simulator, based in Corvallis, and $100,000 to conference co-winner Agility Robotics, based in Albany. An additional $800,000 was invested in these and other ventures as a result of the conference.

“Over the past two years the Willamette Angels Conference has substantially increased investors, funding and applicants,” said Marc Manley, Executive Director for Oregon RAIN. “The Willamette Angels are looking forward to another successful investment season and are excited by the potential of exceeding previous years results for the third year in a row.”

The 2017 WAC application is open from January 11 through February 24, startups interested in applying can do so on the WAC website http://willametteconference.com/.

The application includes a $125 fee, companies that apply before February 13th will pay an early-bird fee of $95.

Submitting a plan to the WAC gives startup companies the opportunity to reach investors, gain fundraising experience, and secure investment dollars. The WAC welcomes startups in all industries. In addition to the conference, the Willamette Angels will offer a free pitch clinic on March 10.

“The Willamette Angels Conference uniquely showcases regional startups and their innovative accomplishments,” said Cooper Whitman, President Corvallis Chamber of Commerce and co-organizer of this year’s WAC. “Furthermore it allows startups in the Mid-Willamette Valley to demonstrate that our small area of the state has real potential for global impact through entrepreneurs and new businesses.”

Founded in 2009, The Willamette Angels Conference is an investment conference that connects early stage and seed startups with angel and venture investors. Startup and entrepreneurial applicants not only receive funding, but also coaching and mentorship. The WAC is designed to advance the entrepreneurial development movement within Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Throughout its eight-year existence the WAC has invested over $3 million in startup businesses.
